Public Forum on Senate Reform in Canada
McGill professor Arash Abizadeh argues in favor of replacing the Canadian Senate by a randomly selected citizens’ assembly, through the use of lottery, or sortition.
Challenging the proposition, we find :
– Senator Paul Massicotte (De Lanaudière)
– Edie Austin, Editorial page editor at the Montreal Gazette
– Andrew Potter, Director of the Institute for the Study of Canada
– A randomly selected member of the public
This public forum was held on December 9, 2016, at McGill University in Montreal.
