Ethnic Diversity and Social Networks in German Secondary Schools
When : Friday, October 11, 2024, 3 -4:30 p.m.
Where: Thomson House, 3650 McTavish, Montreal, Quebec H3A 1Y2
In this talk, Clemens Kroneberg will summarize key findings from recent research on the realities of ethnic diversity in German secondary schools. Analyzing rich survey data on students’ networks and identities allows for new insights that question common assumptions on inter-ethnic relations. These insights concern the nature and consequences of ethnic friendship segregation, the prevalence of physical violence, and contextual drivers of identifying as German.
