{"id":1804,"date":"2024-08-13T08:25:14","date_gmt":"2024-08-13T12:25:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nouveau.csdc-cecd.ca\/?page_id=1804"},"modified":"2026-09-08T12:48:46","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T16:48:46","slug":"apply-travel-grant-conferences","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/csdc-cecd.ca\/en\/apply-travel-grant-conferences\/","title":{"rendered":"Apply &#8211; Travel grant (conferences)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;4px|||||&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Travel grant for academic presentations<\/h2>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Deadline: 1 October 2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last updated on September 2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the grant is to encourage students and postdoctoral fellows, members of the CSDC, to attend a conference in person to present the results of original research on a topic related to the CSDC\u2019s research axes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for the travel grant, applicants must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be enrolled full-time in a Master\u2019s, PhD or postdoctoral fellowship programme at the time of the grant application, the use of funds AND the reimbursement;<\/li>\n<li>Be a member of the CSDC;<\/li>\n<li>Submit a complete and up-to-date student profile on the CSDC website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Under no circumstances may grants be paid after a candidate has graduated or withdrawn from the study programme.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grant amount<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A maximum of $500 for a conference less than 500 km from the home university.<\/li>\n<li>A maximum of $1,000 for a conference more than 500 km from the home university.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Number of travel grants permitted per programme<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master\u2019s: a maximum of one (1) grant for the entire programme.<\/li>\n<li>PhD: a maximum of two (2) grants for the entire programme AND only one (1) application per year. It is therefore recommended to plan carefully how to use this funding throughout the study programme.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Postdoctoral: a maximum of one (1) grant for the entire fellowship.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application deadlines<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are two (2) rounds of applications per year, with deadlines in October and February.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>October<\/strong>: for events taking place between 1 November and 31 March<\/li>\n<li><strong>February<\/strong>: for events taking place between 1 April and 31 October<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is possible (and advisable) to submit an application even if the presentation has not yet been confirmed, as no applications will be accepted after the deadline.<\/p>\n<p>It is possible to withdraw an application if circumstances change, without penalty.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To apply, simply complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.cloud.microsoft\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=1Yt3Vj9q00uiZZMWPk1b_lklRFJLEAZCqhyLZGtNlXtUNEU4V0sxNldaNDE1OTc1OUY4R0hZRFNXVC4u\">form provided<\/a> for this purpose.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notification<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All applicants with a application meeting all the eligibility criteria will receive funding, subject to the availability of funds. Funding will be confirmed by email within 30 days of the submission deadline, with a copy sent to their research supervisor. The email will include the amount awarded, as well as the conditions of use and reimbursement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reimbursement Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The grant is paid in the form of <strong>reimbursement of eligible actual expenses<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The grant must be used for the project originally presented.<\/li>\n<li>The reimbursement claim must be submitted to the CSDC within four (4) weeks of the end of the event <strong>using the form provided<\/strong>. It must include a detailed list of expenses and all supporting documents.<\/li>\n<li>Claims submitted after the deadline will not be processed.<\/li>\n<li>Funds will be transferred by bank transfer once all conditions have been met.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligible expenses<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eligible expenses is based on the section 8 of the FRQ\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/frq.gouv.qc.ca\/app\/uploads\/2026\/07\/rgc_2026_va.pdf\">Common General Rules<\/a> and Chapter 8 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sf.ulaval.ca\/regles-et-politiques\/manuel-des-regles-financieres-de-luniversite-laval\/chapitre-8-frais-de-voyage-frais-de-reception-et-de-representation-et-autres-frais-particuliers\">Manuel des r\u00e8gles financi\u00e8res de Universit\u00e9 Laval<\/a>, which is the managing institution of the CSDC.<\/p>\n<p>A summary table is provided below for easy reference.
