The Centre for the Study of Democratic citizenship presents a methods workshop by:
Prof Dr. Christopher Cochrane (University of Toronto)
Getting Started with Text Analysis in Python
This seminar introduces data and textual analysis in Python, using Anaconda’s Python distribution and the NLTK platform for natural language processing. The goal of the course is to prepare students with tools and code to start analyzing their own data in Python. No prior experience with coding or NLP is required, and we will install relevant software and modules at the beginning of the class. Although installation will be covered in the seminar, students who will not have internet access should install Python 3.6 (https://www.anaconda.com/download/) (PC users install 32-bit version) and NLTK (https://www.nltk.org/data.html) beforehand.
Please bring your own laptop.
All are welcome!
