The Centre for the Study of Democratic citizenship presents a methods workshop by:
PhD Student Olivier Jacques (McGill University)
Advanced methods workshop pizza lunch series on Time Series Analysis: The general to specific modelling strategy
Where and When: Tuesday, September 11, 2018. 3610 McTavish Street, 4th floor, Conference Room.
RSVP will be send by email to CSDC members only.
About the workshop: CSDC student members are invited to McGill PhD student Olivier Jacques’s method workshop, where he will guide a workshop on time series’ general-to-specific modelling strategy. This is part of the new advanced, hands-on workshop pizza lunch series that will present a focused and brief but practical methods topic, front-loading data processing and interpretation of results over theory and mathematical underpinnings of the method. You are expected to be able to run the coding language of your choice since this workshop will not focus on basic setup.
The presentation will take 1-1:15 hours and we will leave time for questions after. It will be structured around an ICPSR homework replication of the Beck and Katz 2011 modelling dynamics replication study (replication of a replication). Since time series models are easier to develop in STATA, this particular workshop will be presented in that software, but R code will be provided too–having access to STATA is not a requisite but if you can access it is a plus.
Lunch will be provided, please email isadora.borgesmonroy@mcgill.ca if you need to cancel your RSVP so we don’t waste food.
Code and data will be distributed the evening before the event, please add your email to the form to get a copy.
