Title: The Xenophobic Dimension of Populist Discourse: A comparative approach
Fanny Martin is a Ph.D. student in political science at Université Laval and is a member/coordinator of the Research Group in Political Communication (RGCP). She holds a master's degree in political discourse analysis from the Paul Valéry University (Montpellier, France). Fanny also has a few years' professional experience in politics. In her previous research, she conducted field work and used an ethnographic approach to collect and analyse audiovisual data on political discourse. This work has led her to deepen her understanding of the ideology and symbols of populist language. She is currently working on the xenophobic dimension of populist discourses in a comparative approach with Professor Thierry Giasson. This research project is funded by a global grant from The Rotary Foundation (the Peace and Conflict Prevention Strategic axis).
